Coach Patrick was an amazing teacher and coach who touched many lives. During the time Coach Patrick was in the hospital there was a huge outpouring of love for him and his family. There were over 623 message posts on the CaringBridge web site and we would like to share some kind words and messages with you:
Coach Patrick,
Everyone here at Whitehouse misses you and will never forget you. You were a great man and made an impact on many kids’ lives. I remember one time, Emily and I were wanting to get into the trainers office and no one would let us in, but you came up with a big smile on your face and were more than happy to help us. You helped anyone who needed it and were happy to do it. You will always be missed and never forgotten.
May God be with you and keep you safe,
Madison and Emily

And every one of the football boys will always love him and all of us are going to play for Coach Patrick forever.

Uncle Dennis,
I have been thinking about this final message for the past few days and I still don't really know what to say. I guess I will start with telling you how absolutely amazing it is that you touched so many people. The difference you made here is something not many people get to experience. It has a way of putting everything into perspective- I think you might have had this place figured. I've been thinking about you a lot lately and realized you introduced me to two things- One is the phenomenon that is Texas High School Football. I was only 7 years old I but understood the importance of the Mesquite- North game and for those 4 quarters nothing else mattered and the world was at peace. Unless of course Mesquite was down then that was another story all together.
The other is Donald Duck. I guess we were at Disney World the first time I heard talked like Donald Duck. That officially made you the coolest uncle ever. I was only 4, at the happiest place on Earth and really easy to impress, but still it was a talent that I appreciated. A few months ago I watched you do the same thing for Shianne. She smiled and giggled and I'm sure she was thinking she had the coolest grand-dude ever. And you weren't even at Disney World at the time.

Coach Patrick was a wonderful man who always knew how to put a smile on my face. I will always remember the great times we had at Chapel Hill coaching football and baseball together, and all the family gatherings we had playing games and visiting. It was an HONOR to be his friend, and I am going to really miss him.

I have only known Coach for 3 years, but in that time he has proven to be a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, friend and awesome and talented athletic director. He always had a smile for me and a joke to make me laugh. I will never forget the last time I saw his smiling face and will forever treasure our time together. The school is already a different place without his presence, but I can feel his spirit watching over us all each day. I write this poem in his memory. My thoughts and prayers are with each of you. God Bless.
Was there ever a man so sweet
He never said an unkind word,
Happiness was his style.
And he could light up any room
With that gorgeous, heartfelt smile.
He loved his sports a lot,
No one can possibly compare with Dennis
In terms of the size of his heart.
I miss you so already,
You really stood the test.
I'll love you forever,
And forever, for me, you're the best.
R.I.P Dennis Patrick

You were a pretty good guy and a great coach. You actually believed in my ability to carry on and have a great life even if I wasn’t in athletics. And I thank u for that.

He was an inspiring, always motivated, and unforgettable coach. I will always think of him every game we play. He pushed us, made us laugh, and never gave up on us in the toughest games. He's the first coach I've ever had and he was a good one to start with. Coach Patrick will always be remembered and in my prayers..

You are such an amazing person. You have a very big heart and mind. Your football talents inspire many and your kindness is incredible. You are what makes all the football guys and many others keep going. You make them want to work for your benefit. We all love you and miss you. I can't wait to meet up with you in heaven. Tell God I said Hello and that I can't wait to be there with the two of you.

He will always be remembered as a great coach and as an amazing man. His memory will be with us always.

Coach Patrick was a great coach and mentor to me. He was my father at school. Anytime I needed someone to talk to, he was there. He stuck by our 8th grade football team whether we were winning or losing. He told us at our last huddle, that we had come together as a team and started to play like a family. I will always remember him and what he taught me. I want to dedicate my future football career to Coach Patrick. I will do my best for you Coach. Love you always.
Forever, Gunnar Dorsey

Coach Patrick was a really great guy. He influenced so many people in so many ways. His life really did make a huge difference, and the memories and love he left behind will continue to bring a smile to our faces and joy to hearts. He was my P.E. coach last year and he was always nice and never to rough on anyone.
Always, Jessica White.
I am one of Coach Patrick's students. He was more than a teacher to me; he was like a father to me. I never realized until today that even your loved ones could leave you at any time. This has taught me to appreciate the finer things in life, the things I take for granted. From now on I will treat every one as I they are family (which they are) I can't wait until one day I will get to go to heaven and see his face again. I will always have a spot in my heart for Coach, and I will always remember him.
With Love,
Taylor Parker

Coach Patrick was a great coach. I never realized how much he meant to me and influenced my life. I just wish I could tell him how great a coach and mentor he was. When I hurt my leg in football he was always there to help me. I will never forget you Coach Patrick.
Forever, Brandon Cottrell
Coach Patrick was a great man. I can't wait to see him up there. I love him and miss him like a father. And I guess he was like a father; at least like one to us in athletics. He would be there and help me improve myself and the things I needed help in. He made me a better person and now I know how to be one.
I love you Coach,
Cory Schmoker

I am so very sorry for your loss! Dennis was a wonderful man. I have not seen you all in several years, but by reading the guestbook I can see how many lives Dennis has touched! I truly takes a special person to dedicate his life to teaching our children. It wasn’t until I became an adult that I realized it wasn’t just baseball or just football that people like Dennis teach, but much more was learned! I became a coach when my son started in sports and quickly realized my responsibility was so much more than fundamentals of a sport, but to give them confidence, respect, passion and to just have the pleasure of working together as a TEAM to accomplish one goal at a time. Dennis was that kind of coach and I thank him for everything he ever taught me. I was truly blessed to have had someone like him in my life as a child! He will truly be missed! You and your family will be in our thoughts and prayers! All my love.
